GYPSY HANDS | Too Fast Clothing Try On Haul

Back when the weather was much nicer I did a little photoshoot for Too Fast Clothing, photo creds to my lovely boyfriend of course. Their designs are always spooky and fun and the fabrics are always incredibly comfy!

First up we have the Gypsy Hands A-Line Mini Dress, it's very slimming and would definitely flatter anyone! It's made of such comfy material it's definitely a go-to when I want to throw something easy but super cute on. It's $46 on the website and I'm wearing a size small.

The Witchy Animals Lolle Ginger Skater Dress is another go-to dress because it's made of such comfy spandex. It was made in collaboration with @Loll3_ on Instagram and I was so thankful to receive it because I adore her art and can't believe I get to wear it! It is $50 on the website and I'm wearing a size small.

To Die By Your Side Babydoll Tee is such a cute but simple design to throw on when you're feeling a t-shirt and jeans kinda day! I'm wearing a size small and it's $24!

If you love anything on their site feel free to use code SPOOKY15 for 15% off any of your orders, it's just a code for you I don't receive anything from it.

MARY KAY HOLIDAY 2019 | 12 Days Of Glam

Hello! Yes! We are into the festive season over here on Spooky Chic and what we have here is a nice twist on the classic chocolate advent calendar, although those are usually 25 days, the 12 days of glam are definitely worth it! As you can see each day you get some mini-sized products, some full-sized products as well as some skincare essentials all wrapped up in a cute 12-day advent calendar retailing for $124 CAD.

It has your classic advent calendar look but inside has a much better surprise for you every day! Each day has a little makeup goodie and by the end of the 12 days, you can do a full face of makeup as well as a bit of skincare and prep. Keep reading if you don't mind spoilers.

Throughout the 12 days out get a full-size lash love mascara in jet black, translucent loose powder, gel liner in jet black with an applicator brush, cream eye color in pale blush, blending sponge, gel semi-matte lipstick in Midnight Red, nourishine plus lip gloss in Golden, and beauty blotters oil-absorbing tissues. For the trial sized items you get oil-free makeup remover, microdermabrasion refine with pore minimizer together, nourishing shea cream and a shea sugar scrub.

I love that the majority of the items were full-sized. It definitely makes for a great advent calendar where the products will last you quite a while and give you everything to create a full look!

SPOOKY SEASON | Dollarama Halloween Sneak Peek

My next stop in the Halloween Sneak Peek collection is Dollarama! This is always my first stop when shopping for fun Halloween decor that won't be up all year round, more for parties or events! You can usually find the same goodies for a way cheaper price than the big pop up stores, and it's also good for people who only like to decorate for Halloween and then take it down later as I find the quality is a little less than other stores.

I'm obsessed with Halloween string lights and these little paper pumpkins are absolutely adorable and something I'd keep up all year round for sure. The nutcrackers are a great way to transition your Halloween decor into November and December while still being Christmas festive.

The ceramic pumpkins and festive mats are a great item to decorate the entire house or porch while still keeping your budget low. I'm always a little wary of putting my good decor outside so things like this I feel a bit better about!

I'm a sucker for candle holders, especially pumpkin shaped ones because I don't know about you but I don't really enjoy hollowing out pumpkins and carving them so this is a great alternative to that. The lanterns below are a good way to have spooky lighting without the risk of using real candles or open flames.

The baking supplies are always one of my absolute favourites because it's something I'd keep around and use for the entire year. Who couldn't use pumpkin and ghost-shaped cookie cutters throughout the year?

As a trained makeup artist I am always a little iffy on the quality of cheaper Halloween makeup but if you're just having some fun this is perfect for you! It's also easy to make it work for you in a more SFX way. These cauldrons are a great way to make a larger batch of mixed drinks and punches!

This year I'm decorating for a Halloween party so this is the first place I always check out before heading to the bigger box stores. They have great options for fun Halloween decorations. The fabric curtains are definitely something I'll be picking up to dress up the scene! The ghosts are also perfect for hanging from trees because let's be honest, no matter the price they're still going to get flung around in the wind and get tangled and ripped.

Stuck on a Halloween costume? This is a great place to grab a few things a build off of. I'm going to be grabbing quite a few things for my photobooth props!

Maybe your pets like dressing up too, if only for a short time they have a little selection of costumes and collars!

As the dollar stores get more Halloween goodies in I'll be grabbing more and more! What's something that you always pick up from your local dollar stores?

SPOOKY SEASON | Lowe's Halloween Sneak Peek

I was sitting in the parking lot across and noticed Lowe's had Halloween blow-up lawn ornaments and had to pop in and take a look. I've never really considered places like Lowe's for Halloween items but I was very surprised!

Their prices are a little higher but as is the quality of the items. So many cute things that make noise or move which is super fun! I always enjoy pushing them and then panicking when they're way too loud for a quiet store haha!

The had adorable skeleton bodies to place candy bowls on top of, bat garland, giant festive wreaths, and a giant spooky tree with hanging lights!

These lights are one of my favourite things for Halloween. They project photos onto your wall that moves around and I think that's such a cute and easy way to decorate the whole outside of your house in minutes! Nightmare Before Christmas seems to be really big this year and I am so down for that, it's one of my favourite movies! I think for my Halloween party I'll be grabbing a set of the ghost ones and projecting those onto the ceiling and walls!

They had so many great Halloween decor and some pretty large pieces too for a good price! Overall I was really surprised with it, and I have a feeling this is just the beginning of things they'll be getting in. I did pop into Walmart to check it out because from what I've seen the USA has full aisles already but unfortunately we do not over here in Canada yet. I'll be checking back in in a few weeks to see it all when they do!

Look how big this guy is for a surprisingly low price! If I had a yard to put him in you better bet I would be! They even had bigger ones that would tower over everything! Also, peep that adorable haunted house entrance you can walk through!

HALLOWEEN EVERYDAY | Too Fast Clothing Haul

I recently purchased a backdrop and light set up (here) as well as a phone tripod with a ring light (here) and was very excited to try it out so I figured why not turn it into a mini clothing haul from Too Fast Clothing! All these items were sent to me from the company but the opinion is my own!

When I first ordered these hoops I didn't realize how big they really were, they definitely make a statement! These are the Strange and Unusual Hoops (here). They are 3.5" x 3.5" round, one says strange and the other says unusual! It's from the movie Beetlejuice which is one of my all-time favourites so I knew I needed these in my life!

This slouchy tank top is the Satan Says tank (here), in size medium for reference. It's a loose and low cut tank with extra-low armholes and is great for hotter days when all you really want to wear is a bandeau.

At first, I was a little unsure about this bathing suit because I had never worn anything like it so it was a bit out of my comfort zone for sure. It's actually incredibly comfortable and could be worn as a bathing suit or definitely as a skirt or top alone during the summer days! This is the Moon & Stars Bustier Bikini (here) and I'm wearing a size small. It is a bit small on me in the waist because it does sit higher but I am a petite small so I usually do have this problem. The bust does fit true to size and is 34".

Last but not least we have the Damask Bat Skater Dress (here) in a size small. It's described as a fit and flare dress with an A-line skirt made from nylon and spandex so it's incredibly comfy and hangs comfortably. Damask is one of my favourite patterns and bats are my favourite animal so what more could I want!

I had a lot of fun with this little photoshoot and will definitely have more coming in the future! Check out for a ton more spooky designs!

I've been really sitting down and thinking about what I wanted to post and then it dawned on me, why am I not posting about what I LOVE? It doesn't have to be that deep and initially, when I started this blog back in 2012 it was just about things that I loved. So here we are!

As a Halloween obsessed gal living in Calgary, Alberta I always have a wee bit of jealousy towards the USA for how much Halloween items they get and how QUICKLY they get it! This idea is entirely inspired by people posting on twitter of the amazing Halloween items that I get to see through their eyes, and very mainly inspired by The Spooky Vegan for always posting sneak peeks at stores when they release their Halloween stuff. I wanted to be able to provide that for Canadian Halloween enthusiasts!

The other night I went out with my boyfriend after work to a few of my favourite spots to look for Halloween decor, the first two places were Homesense and Winners which I figured I'd just combine because they do have some of the same items and are the same company.

First off, can we talk about their always amazing selection of proper home goods? You can bet that all of my kitchenwares are going to be spooky. These plates and bowls are to die for and are dishwasher and microwave safe so they're definitely something you could use in everyday life.

Here's a little peek at their acrylic bowl collection. I was very tempted to grab a few of these for my upcoming Halloween party but I did refrain for fear that they would inevitably just get broken anyway. Also, the amount of self-control I had to use when I saw those Trick and Treat mugs was way too much. I am such a sucker for spooky mugs, I'll definitely be showing you all my spooky mug collection.. those might just be included in that.

I told my boyfriend that I WAS NOT going to buy any spooky mugs on this specific Halloween shopping trip.. but when I saw their bamboo spooky travel mugs you know I had to grab one! Peek that Mummy mug... I definitely already grabbed that earlier in the week.

Little fun fact, I actually don't like skulls so unfortunately, I didn't grab anything related to that. But for those of you that do they have some really nice looking spooky wine and drinking glasses.

Now onto the home decor section. There are SO many pumpkins which I am a big fan of. I've been really attracted to orange items this year which apparently is lucky because there is a ton! The fabric pumpkins in the right bottom are so lush, and come in a bunch of different fabrics like velvet! PS. peek the boyfriend checking out a phone that makes noise!

They also had LED light signs that said EEK and BOO, as well as the spooky "snow" globes!

These chalkboard pumpkins were one of my favourite items. I've seen quite a few things that gave you the option of a Halloween countdown but they never went high enough which was a little disappointing when you start counting down the day after Halloween. With this pumpkin, you'd be able to count down all year round!

Last but not least, some pets like to be festive too! Unfortunately, none of my pets like to wear costumes or little sweaters but if yours do they have great options, or maybe just a chew toy!

I hope you guys enjoyed scrolling through as much as I enjoyed creating this post. It's my first of many and I can't wait to show you more! If you had a favourite item or if there is a specific store I should check out? Let me know!

FLOURISH | My Plant Collection

As most people nowadays I too have gained an obsession with plants, most of the succulent variety but I also love big leafy plants. Keep in mind my collection would be a lot bigger but my boyfriend acts as if every time I bring home a plant it's an animal (because I definitely didn't just Snapchat him bunnies and then come home with two) and we're "running out of space". Keep scrolling to take a tour of my plants and hopefully, I get them all correct, if not please let me know!

First up in my little Pothos aka the Devil's Ivy, mine is pretty small right now but hopefully, in no time it will become a super long vine! Ideally, I want to place it on a shelf on a wall and then train the vines to go along it!

Next up I have an Aloe Haworthia, this one did have a very tall stem that flowered at one point almost immediately after I brought it home!

This is my Ivy plant, not sure what kind but I'm assuming an English Ivy plant. I have had it growing up lattice, as you can see it is growing up, but I had to bring it inside when there was a storm. Once my deck is complete from its little makeover it will be back out there and growing tall.

This is my big leafy plant which is a Golden Hosta, I'm very hopeful that it will start growing more leaves and become bushy!

To my surprise this actually a Gollum Jade tree that grows into a large tree about three feet tall and two feet wide. I had no clue until I stumbled across one at a local farmers market where they do have a very large one!

I almost forgot to add this one because it's hanging in my kitchen window, but it's called a String of Nickles and will grow downward similar to a vine.

This one is by far my most flourishing plant as it's about doubled in size since I had gotten it. It is a Senecio Barbertonicus, which apparently has little yellow flowers in the springtime!

These three little guys are all kinds of Echeverias, the second and third pictures are ones that had broken off of another plant and to my surprise have been growing on their own thankfully!

This is probably one of my favorites and it's a Calico Kitten Crassula, it's hard to tell from the photo but most of the leaves are heart-shaped and a lovely red colour, it flowers in the spring apparently which I have yet to see because I did get it after.

This little arrangement is black petunias as well as I believe silver sage? I'm a little unsure and google didn't give me the most help. Of course, I never keep any of the name tags that the plants come with, that would make too much sense haha!

Here we have the classic money tree, this guy has given me more problems when I "thought" I was actually taking care of it, it wasn't until I decided to kind of forget about it and put it on top of my china cabinet that it actually stopped losing leaves and now it's been just fine!

This planter has three different plants, being the black mondo grass, a sweet potato vine, and some black petunias. When I first got the sweet potato vine I hadn't even read what it was and just enjoyed the colour of the leaves, but soon after it started growing I realized it was actually a vine The Black Mondo Grass is another one of my favorites because of the colour and the fact that it spreads!

Since I do live in Calgary, Alberta and it gets to -30c they will all be coming inside once it gets chiller out and my living room will become a jungle, can't say I'm disappointed about that. I'll somehow have to bring the lattice in as well with the sweet potato vines.

What are your favourite plants?
