Although I'm not someone who seeks out masks I am always so excited to try them and today we have the new Clear Proof Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask from Mary Kay! At first I was excited because I thought it was going to be a charcoal peel off mask but it's not, it's one that you rinse off with warm water which when you think about it is much less painful and is still very effective for deep cleansing. This mask was sent to me by Mary Kay.
It comes in a squeeze tube and holds 4 OZ/114 g of product for $26 CAD which is definitely a good price point for how many masks you'll be able to get out of this product. As someone who doesn't like the smell of charcoal I was a little apprehensive but I still went ahead and ended up loving it, so if you don't like the smell of charcoal keep reading because I may be able to change your mind!
Even though it applied quite thick, creamy, and full coverage when it was finished drying after 15 minutes it was a little patchy and it turns into a soft almost chalky matte texture as you can see in the photo below. It wasn't uncomfortable when it was drying and you get used to the smell, either that or it dulls as it dries.
My first reaction after washing off the mask that it didn't do anything and I was a little disappointed but I only really thought that because it was SO gentle and I didn't feel anything. I'm used to masks leaving my skin tight after I've used it but this one doesn't. My skin wasn't left red or irritated and felt like a cloud, it's so hard to describe the light and refreshed feeling, but ultimately it is the nicest deep clean I've ever had and I've definitely found a new favourite.
I feel like this would be a great mask for someone with sensitive skin and I'll definitely be using it again and again!
